Captive Trajectory System Test Planning Information for AEDC Supersonic Wind Tunnel (A) and Hypersonic Wind Tunnels (B) and (C)

Abstract

Normally in the development of flight vehicle systems, the staging characteristics have to be obtained experimentally. This report briefly describes the specialized methods used in wind tunnel tests at the Arnold Engineering Development Center in simulating the staging process. The capabilities of the mechanisms and the precision to which the data can be obtained are presented, along with descriptions of typical tests.
