Reference Guide for Federal Government Acquisition.

Abstract

This thesis, when joined with a thesis written by CDR J.F. Hetherington in March 1983 entitled 'A Synopsis of Acquisition Related Topics', will form a single reference that will provide a review of current, important topics relevant to federal acquisition. Individual topics are divided into the following categories: contracting and general acquisition; legal; finance, economics and accounting; and production. A broad introduction/definition is given in the initial 'discussion' section of each topic for a quick review. Individual topics are generally confined to three to four pages to provide an overview of the topic and mention related concepts. The depth of coverage in each topic should be sufficient for a working knowledge of the concept in relation to negotiation, cost analysis or other aspects of the acquisition field. A list of references and a bibliography for further study is supplied at the end of most topics as an initial step toward a more in-depth study of the subject matter or for application of the concept to the area of concern.
