A Layered Communication System for Ethernet.

Abstract

Connecting heterogenous computer systems via local area networks presents a challenge to software designers for the development of effective, reliable, and modifiable network communication software. This thesis presents a set of hierarchical program modules written for use on any INTELLEC MDS microcomputer development system, running the CP/M-80 operating system, to allow the system to become part of an Ethernet local area network. These program of software engineering, but to also reflect the same functional hierarchy as the International Standards Organization Open System Interconnection (ISO OSI) architectural reference model for computer networks.
