Loss and Damage in the QUICKTRANS System.

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to review the QUICKTRANS system with respect to loss and damage. The question has arisen concerning the amount of loss and damage which occurs on the system and what should be done if it is excessive. This review will consist of an examination of the manuals and directives concerning the general operations, and more specifically, the procedures designed to control the freight in the system. The procedures as they are designed will be compared to actual observations of the system in an attempt to identify problems. The loss and damage which occurs will be evaluated to determine if the amount is excessive, based on similar commercial service, and alternatives will be discussed for reducing that which does occur.
