A Computer Code to Calculate Emission and Transmission of Infrared Radiation through Non-Equilibrium Atmospheres.

Abstract

A computer code that calculates infrared radiance in the upper atmosphere has been developed. The code, for limb-looking geometry and conditions where local thermodynamic equilibrium may not hold, utilizes individual ro-vibrational transitions to calculate the optical thicknesses along each segment of the line-of-sight path. The formulation of the problem is given, as is the means of using the program and the procedure for obtaining input data from certain data bases. Appendices contain program listings and two examples.
