Measuring Displacements of Gun System Components by the Use of Optron Optical Trackers

Abstract

Optical trackers are often the instrument of choice for measuring displacement in a gun system during firing. This report deals with the setup and operation of optical trackers, in particular the Optron, and the use of this tracker is demonstrated by several examples. The accuracy of the Optron and the ease with which it can be set up and the data can be analyzed make it a valuable tool in the analysis of gun systems.
