Evaluation of Automatic Test Equipment for Use with the Army Helicopter Improvement Program.

Abstract

This report documents an analysis of Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) for use with the Army helicopter Improvement Program (AHIP) aircraft system. The study addresses the Test Support System (TSS) versus spares and the MSM-105(V)2. The MSM-105(v)2 is the 410(V)4 modified for van installation. For five different alternatives, this study compares the 20 year peacetime cost of repairing AHIP avionics. The alternatives include the use of spares at AVIM with ATE at Depot or the location of ATE at both AVIM and Depot. The analysis suggests that it would be more cost effective to locate the TSS at AVIM nd Depot than to place the MSM-105(V)2 and/or spares at these same levels. Table 3.1 displays the results of the analysis for each alternative. Final figures are shown for the grand total cost and the total provisioning cost.
