Development of a Computer Aided Design Package for Control System Design and Analysis for Use on a Personal Computer.

Abstract

A complete requirements analysis is accomplished for the system as a whole which establishes the framework for the ensuing design. A user friendly interface is developed which permits interactive communication, via a computer terminal, user assistance and error analysis. The command interpreter which forms the backbone of the user interface relies on the keyword / command word interactive technique and incorporates prompting, error detection, and on-line assistance. Furthermore, the command structure is completely soft which permits easy transportability to other systems. System portability is provided so that the package may be used on a wide variety of personal computers and or terminals. Partial implementation of root-locus analysis is accomplished using a branch tracing algorithm. Results of root-locus calculations agree favorably with those of known accuracy.
