Work Motivation: Theory and Practice

Abstract

A review of the literature was conducted to identify and describe the characteristics of four major work motivation theories: expectancy theory, reinforcement theory, goal setting, and job design. The relationship of incentives, feedback, and job satisfaction to work motivation is also discussed. The conditions and requirements for the application of the four motivational techniques in a military environment are described.
