Analysis of Administrative Information Flow in a Military Medical Center Pursuant to Design of a Data Base Management System That will Ultimately Support a Hospital Information System.

Abstract

A partial centralized relational data base in third normal form was designed for use by the staff of the United States Medical Center Wright-Patterson. Information requirements were gathered by means of an in-depth data/information analysis at the directorate and division level, and used as the basis of the design. Provided with the design is a detailed data dictionary and an implementation plan. As a result of certain facts gathered during the data/information analysis, several management and organizational recommendations were made to the Medical Center. The aim of these recommendations was to make the implementation and management of the data base easier, cheaper and responsive to the users. (Author)
