Historic Archeology at Star and Bourbon Plantations: Miles 65.5-R and 151-L, Mississippi River.

Abstract

Historic archeological investigations were undertaken at two sites on the Mississippi River in South Louisiana, pursuant to Contract No. DACW29-83-M-0521. Archival research, pedestrian survey, surface collection, and excavation at 16PL85 and at 16 SJ 38 (M-151-L) provided evidence of 19th century occupation at the former, and of the 19th-20th occupation at the latter. Both site was found to have been seriously impacted by fluvial processes. Neither site was found to meet the criteria for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places (36 CFR 60.0).
