All That Remains. The Traditional Architecture and Historic Engineering Structures of the Richard B. Russell Multiple Resource Area, Georgia and South Carolina.

Abstract

This report brings together several stages of research and documentation relating to the architecture and settlement of the Richard B. Russell Multiple Resource Area. Information from archeological surveys is used in conjunction with data produced by an inventory of all historic structures within the MRA and from the documentation for mitigation of selected properties. House types are presented and comparisons of these types with their occurrence in other areas were presented an comparisons of these types with their occurrence in other areas are evaluated. These data are then considered in light of the settlement model presented by Prunty and the Upland South culture concept delineated by cultural geographers. The final section presents the documentation prepared for properties determined eligible to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
