Abstract

Studies completed during the term of this contract include: Sensitivity of the IL 282 Co-oximeter to low hemoglobin concentration and high proportions of methemoglobin; Performance of the oxygen-hemoglobin dissociation analyzer 'Hem-O-Scan', compared with the IL 282 Co-oximeter; Determination of serum Creatinine in the presence of high concentrations of free hemoglobin; Large vollume preparation of pyridoxalated stroma-free hemoglobin with high in vivo P sub 50; Oxygen transport by pyridoxalated stroma-free hemoglobin; Cardiac response during hemodilution with stroma-free hemoglobin solutions having different oxygen affinities; Hemodynamic response in the baboon Extreme Hemodilution using stroma-free hemoglobin; A quantitative analysis of alterations in PvO2; and The contribution of hemoglobin concentration and P sub 50 to oxygen transport during exchange transfusion with hemoglobin solutions.
