Underwater Shock-Induced Responses of Submerged Cylindrical Structures.

Abstract

Tne non-linear elasto-plastic responses of a submerged cylindrical shell to an underwater shock wave have been investigated. Using the EPSA (Elasto-Plastic Shell Analysis) code, the gross responses of homogenous and ring-stiffened shells were evaluated. The relevant parameters have been displayed and evaluated using PATRAN-G color graphics system. An interface module was developed between EPSA and PATRAN-G. The deformations and von Mises stresses throughout the shell have been qualitatively evaluated. (Author)
