Estimating the Seakeeping Qualities of Destroyer Type Hulls.

Abstract

A procedure for estimating the relative seakeeping ability of destroyers in head seas has been developed. Several alternate methods of ranking seakeeping performance are considered. The data base of ship hull forms was greatly expanded beyond that of previous similar work. An improved analysis of seakeeping performance data was carried out considering a large number of parameters describing the hull geometry, including the effect of displacement. (Author)
