Uniqueness of Connecting Orbits in the Equation Y(3) = Y2 - 1.

Abstract

The differential equation of the title arises (in particular) in the study of shock waves. The equation has two rest points; the question is whether there are solutions running between them. Existence of the connecting solution was proved in previous works. The uniqueness is proved in this paper.
