Some Thoughts on 3-D Isoparametric Elements.

Abstract

With the increasing use of advanced fibre reinforced materials and the growing acceptance of damage tolerant design principles, three-dimensional finite element analysis is being used much more frequently. This paper presents some thoughts on the optimum use of three-dimensional isoparametric elements. Most commonly used element types are evaluated. (Author)
