Flood Control, Mississippi River, La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Abstract

The proposed action is a flood control project consisting of levees, road raises, flood wall, road and rail closures, and interior drainage facilities in the city of La Crosse, Wisconsin. The plan would cover about 69 acres of land by levees and road raises, of which an estimated 30 acres is vegetated by productive march and floodplain forest. An additional 20 acres of undeveloped marsh would ve converted into an interior drainage ponding area. About 3.4 acres of a northern pike spawning area would be filled by levees.
