An Annotated Computer Network Security Bibliography,

Abstract

This report contains a partially annotated, cross-referenced bibliography of 675 references from the open (i.e. non-classified, general distribution) literature related to computer network security. It primary emphasis is on technical approaches to computer and computer network security. It organizes references into four main areas (background and theory, single system computer security, distributed computer system and computer network security, and miscellaneous security topics) further broken into 37 subcategories. The report is divided into five sections. The first contains a description of and rationale for the subjects covered. The second contains cross-references between the subjects discussed in the first and the citations contained in the fourth section. It consists of 37 tables giving references of varying degrees of relevance to each of the topics outlined in the first section. The third section contains a keyword-in-context index to the citations. This table, made up from a permuted and sorted list of keywords assigned to each citation, provides a way to find references covering a particular mix of subjects. The fourth section contains the annotated bibliography. The fifth section contains a list of authors with pointers to the documents each wrote. (Author)
