TLINES: A Computer Program for Circuits of Transmission Lines.

Abstract

TLINES, a FORTRAN program installed on the PDP-11/60 computer at the Harry Diamond Laboratories Aurora Facility, is specifically designed for transmission-line circuit calculations on a small computer. Detailed step-function waves originate as exact originate as exact solutions of a chosen initial charge distribution. Lumped inductances and capacitances are modelled as transmission-line segments. Data are input interactively, and the output consists primarily of plots on a graphics terminal of current, voltage, power, and energy as functions of time at various positions in the circuit and plots of current, and power as functions of position at given times. The program has provisions for (1) closing and opening switches, (2) series and parallel resistances between transmission lines, and (3) series and parallel connections of transmission lines. Discussed are the basic theory relevant to the program, the construction of the program, instructions for the use of the program, and examples of its use. (Author)
