Abstract

The properties of a new rank statistic for comparing two populations in an arbitrary right censoring sampling scheme were investigated. The new statistic is an extension of the locally most powerful rank statistic for uncensored data and an extension of the well-known Wilcoxon statistic. The power of the new statistic was compared with the Prentice statistic for a sample size of IO and the new statistic was generally of slightly higher power for the logistic alternatives investigated. The investigators are optimistic that the statistic will remain more powerful against other alternatives. (Author)
