A Method to Compute the Contact Force of a Body Impacting a Ring-Stiffened Cylindrical Shell Using a Lumped Parameter Finite-Difference Model.

Abstract

A method to compute the contact force of a body impacting a ring-stiffened shell using a lumped parameter finite-difference computer program is presented. The method is applied to a simulator torpedo. The derived force predicts velocity responses and shock spectra which agrees well with measurements. (Author)
