Investigation and Management of Ebola Virus Infection in Non-Human Primates

Abstract

Experience in the use of convalescent Ebola antibody of therapy is very limited and has only been successfully reported on one occasion, and this only in combination with human leucocyte interferon (Emond at al., 1977). The results of previous investigations by us on the use of convalescent plasma as specific treatment in the management of Ebola virus infection in non-human primates have been equivocal and in need of clarification. Investigations are described which were carried out in an effort to shed some light on some of the mechanisms involved.
