Reliability Aspects of Microprocessor Systems,

Abstract

The aims of this report are: To identify relevant past and present research on reliability aspects of microprocessor systems, and to evaluate its usefulness, and To identify key areas affecting microprocessor system reliability. The emphasis has been placed on a system viewpoint, with more attention given to software. The report is organized in six sections, as follows: Section one is this introduction; Definitions of certain basic concepts which are essential to the understanding of the remainder of the report; Identification of identifies problems associated with the reliability of microprocessor based systems; a discussion of various methods for the improvement of microprocessor system reliability; methods for reliability evaluation; and conclusions and recommendations.
