Archeological Assessment of Two Sites on the Mississippi River. 16 PC 33 and 16 EBR 46.

Abstract

Historic archeological investigations were undertaken at two sites on the Mississippi River in south Louisiana, pursuant to Contract No. DACW29-83-M-0186. Archival research, pedestrian survey, surface collection, and excavation at 16 PC 33 and at 16 EBR 46 provided evidence of 19th and 20th century occupation of Lakeland Plantation in Pointe Coupee Parish and of Hollywood Plantation in East Baton Rouge Parish. Both sites were found to have been seriously impacted by fluvial and anthropogenic processes. Neither site was found to meet the criteria for the National Register of Historic Places (36 CFR 60.6).
