Correlation of Pressure Distribution on the Blade of ITTC Propeller Committee Model Propeller MP 282.

Abstract

The open-water performance and the pressure distribution on the blades of ITTC Model Propeller MP 282 (diameter of 950 mm) operating in uniform flow were computed using the Computer Code PUF-2, originally developed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The computed results are compared with experimental measurements made at Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Ship Model Basin in Japan. The predicted thrust and torque coefficients were about 10 percent less than the experimental values over the range of advance coefficients. In general, the predicted pressure distributions are in satisfactory agreement with the experimental measurements.
