Survey of Urban Meteorological Data.

Abstract

The literature was surveyed for observational studies dealing with the effect of the urban boundary on the atmospheric boundary layer. The studies are summarized according to the quantity and quality of wind, temperature, relative humidity, and turbulence data. In addition, urban areas with limited urban data are listed. From the various studies, the data arising from the Regional Air Pollution Study (RAPS) in St Louis and the Uppsala Urban Meteorological Project (UUMP) were selected for incorporation in an urban meteorological data base. RAPS and UUMP data were procured. The land use of both areas was classified according to a scheme that is meteorologically based.
