Optical Signal Processing for Surveillance.

Abstract

Recent progress toward multichannel implementation of a time-integrating, acousto-optic Fourier transforming device is described. Various multichannel schemes are assessed, and advantages and disadvantages for scheme given. A laboratory multichannel demonstration has been carried out successfully. It is shown that Fourier transformation of a simulated Gemini signal can be readily obtained. A special A-O demultiplexer is proposed to handle the data format proposed by Aerojet for the focal-plane detector array. Recommendations for future tasks are given. (Author)
