Marking and Lighting of Unpaved Runways - Inservice Testing,

Abstract

This document describes the results of inservice testing of an FAA developed unpaved runway airport marking and lighting system. Inservice testing of the prototype unpaved runway marking and lighting system was conducted at separate utility airports having essentially different environmental conditions. User participating pilots were, in general, favorably impressed with the standardized system concept. They did, however, indicate several aspects of the system that could be improved or modified. This report details results of this inservice evaluation, and provides conclusions as to desirable changes that might enhance system effectiveness.
