ORganosilane Polymers. VII. Sodium-Derived Vinylic Polysilanes.

Abstract

Dechlorination of mixtures of CH2=CHSiMeC12 with other chlorosilanes, using sodium metal in hydrocarbon/THF solvent blends, provides vinylic polysilanes which are excellent precursors for silicon carbide ceramic compositions. These polymers are soluble, relatively inert, and are thermally curable through reactions of the vinyl groups. (Author)
