The Factorization Method for Two Points Boundary Value Problems for ODE's and Its Relation to the Finite Difference Method.

Abstract

The paper shows that the elimination method for solving the system of linear equation stemming from finite differences or finite elements is a special numerical method for solving certain initial value problems for an ordinary differential equation. Various conclusions are drawn from this observation. (Author)
