Fundamental Study of Three Dimensional Two Phase Flow in Combustion Systems

Abstract

Details are presented on the latest developments in the mathematical modelling of turbulence with particular reference to the pressure strain transport term. Comparisons are made of the radial variations of normal and shear stress with published data for a round jet and for decay of turbulence for selected flow fields. Work is also reported on the measurement and calculation of flow fields inside a dump combustor using swirl and baffle stabilization. The value of the different turbulence approximations in predicting the flow are discussed.
