Determination of Factors Affecting Performance and Productivity in an Engineering/Design Environment

Abstract

Within all organizations there exist opportunities for constructive change, e.g., improving employee motivation, increasing management effectiveness, and enriching the quality of work life. This study attempts to generalize employee perceptions towards their organization and through inductive reasoning offer a basis for strategy selection to maximize the effects of the constructive change being sought. This study delves into the structure of a Real Property Maintenance Activity, its people and their perceptions of the work environment. It attempts a critical analysis not for the purpose of censure but rather to introduce one method that can precede constructive change in order to realize the full potential of the change.
