Radiation from Intense Electron Beams Associated with the Cherenkov Mechanism.

Abstract

This report summarizes the Cerenkov radiation to be expected from an intense electron beam for both the coherent and incoherent modes or radiation. The effects of a finite length beam are discussed with regard to beam diffraction, radiated power, and bunch shape. The appendices contain a discussion of the beam radiation pattern. (Author)
