Central Arizona Water Control Study. Stage II. Recreation Planning Report.
Abstract
The purpose of the Central Arizona Water Control Study (CAWCS) is to examine all suitable alternatives to Orme Dam and to recommend a plan that will provide regulatory storage of CAP water and flood control along the Salt and Gila Rivers. The Central Arizona Water Control Study planning area encompasses approximately 8.2 million acres (12,800 square miles), which include all of Maricopa and portions of Gila, Pinal, and Yavapai Counties. Portions of the Salt, Verde, Gila, and Agua Fria River drainage basins fall within its boundaries. The primary purpose of this report is to document the recreation planning work which was performed by the Corps of Engineers during State II of the Central Arizona Water Control Study.
