Laser Beam Technology Promoting High Speed and Selective Plating Processes.

Abstract

In recent years, there has been increasing interest in laser beam applications in material processes such as laser machining, laser surface treatment and laser induced chemical and electrochemical processes. This report deals primarily with laser induced selective high rate chemical deposition on metallic and polymeric substrates without masking. The experimental system used to carry out deposition processes consisted of laser beam facility, X-Y computerized table, electrolytic cell (with or without counter and reference electrode) and a computer. The laser systems used were C. W. Argon laser and Q switch Nd:YAG pulsed laser.
