Theoretical Analysis of Microwave Propagation.

Abstract

This report documents a comprehensive investigation of microwave propagation. The structure of line-of-sight multipath is determined and the impact on practical diversity is discussed. A new model of diffraction propagation for multiple rounded obstacles is developed. A troposcatter model valid at microwave frequencies is described. New results for the power impulse response, and the delay spread and Doppler spread are developed. A 2-component model separating large and small scale scatter effects is proposed. The prediction techniques for diffraction and troposcatter have been implemented in a computer program intended as a tool to analyze propagation experiments. (Author)
