Bursts and Pressure Fluctuations in Turbulent Boundary Layers.

Abstract

Development of measurement techniques and acquisition of velocity- and pressure- fluctuation data in low-speed turbulent boundary layers are described. The object was to study the generation of pressure fluctuations by the turbulent eddies and to use the surface pressure fluctuation as a diagnostic tools, thus bringing together new and existing knowledge of the behavior of the outer layer 'large eddies', the inner layer and viscous sublayer, and the surface pressure fluctuations themselves. Data analysis is still in progress.
