An Investigation of the Facets for Converting Military Authorizations for Maintenance Personnel to Civilian Positions
Abstract
This paper reviews the concept of military to civilian conversions in greater detail; examines the associated facets of conversions and their impact with respect to Air Force maintenance functions; and determines the advantages and disadvantages of position conversions. Nineteen factors were determined to have an impact on conversions; eleven were determined by the author as disadvantages for conversions. Through a discussion of the factors, the author concludes that military to civilian conversions are detrimental to the Air Force Mission.
