A Preliminary Toxicological Evaluation of Eight Chemicals Used as Wood Preservatives.

Abstract

A preliminary toxicological evaluation of eight chemicals used as wood preservatives has been made and the data gaps identified. The mammalian toxicology, environmental and ecological effects, and environmental standards for pentachlorophenol, copper naphthenate, copper 8-quinolinolate, 3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate, 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole, zinc naphthenate, ammoniacal copper borate, and tri-n-butyltin oxide have been reviewed, and recommendations made for further toxicological studies.
