Arctic Physical Oceanography.

Abstract

The physical oceanography of the Arctic Ocean has been investigated on three different field expeditions: AIDJEX ('75-76), FRAM ('79-82), and MIZEX (1983). The locations of these expeditions cover the range of Arctic Ocean environments from the polar park of the Beaufort Sea to the ice edge in Fram Strait. Meso- and fine-scale oceanographic structure in these areas was monitored with hydrographic profiles taken from drifting ice stations and at remote sites reached by helicopter. Ocean currents were monitored by both profiling and fixed current meters suspended from drifting ice stations. A bibliography is included of scientific papers and technical reports covering accomplishments under this contract. (Author)
