Estimation of the Threshold in Fatigue Crack Initiation Models: A Bayesian Approach,

Abstract

A Bayesian approach for the estimation of the threshold parameter in a probability model for fatigue crack failures is presented. The Weibull and the lognormal distributions are considered as suitable models for the number of cycles to crack initiation. The approach is discussed for the two models, and real life data from aircraft engine disks is analyzed. (Author)
