Assessing the Reliability of Computer Software and Computing Networks: An Opportunity for Partnership with Computer Scientists.

Abstract

This paper highlights three areas which are of importance in computer science, and in which statisticians can make valuable contributions. The authors outline these areas, survey the developments, and point out some of the open problems. The research areas are: software reliability, the reliability of fault tolerant computers, and the reliability of computer networks.
