Prediction Methods for the Unsteady Transonic Flow through a Cascade

Abstract

The high frequency cascade code developed in a previous contract for unstaggered cascade has been modified to use a better algorithm. Further developments include the derivation of the mesh and algorithm to treat staggered cascades and the testing of the cascade indicial theory of Nixon which promises considerable reductions in computer cost. The steady flow part of the staggered algorithm works but the unsteady part is not yet operational. Several examples of unsteady transonic flows for the unstaggered cascade are given and also results of the indicial theory.
