Reevaluation of USAFSAM Sampling and Data-Averaging Procedures for Respirator Quantitative Fit Test.

Abstract

USAFSAM Respirator Quantitative Fit Test methods, procedures, and data analysis capabilities have been reevaluated. Omission of test-tent sampling can result in errors in calculating the protection factor by as much as a factor of 2. The method of averaging protection-factor data over six or more exercises can also result in protection factors greater than those of other laboratories by as much as a factor of 2. An alternate method of averaging protection-factor data is being investigated. (Author)
