Constraint-Based Scheduling in an Intelligent Logistics Support System: An Artificial Intelligence Approach.

Abstract

This report summarizes the progress of research performed during the contract period from March 1982 to March 1984. A theory of hierarchical, opportunistic constraint-directed reasoning for the scheduling of job shops has been the focus of the research. In addition, new research in the areas of constraint-directed diagnosis, and reactive scheduling was initiated. An experimental software system, called ISIS, has continued its evolution and has been tested on simulated plant data.
