Noise Analysis of the Coarse Optical Power Spectrum Estimator (COPSE) Data Acquisition System.

Abstract

The various components of the COPSE Acquisition System are briefly summarized. The system is theoretically analysed to determine what effect added Gaussian noise will have on its performance. On linear mode, the Gaussian noise was found to negate the quantization effect of the system provided the variance of the noise was high enough. On log mode, the system was found to perform better in the low photo-diode current range. (Author)
