Analyses to Develop Models to Project Failure Rates and Repair Costs of Electronic Modules and Subassemblies.

Abstract

This report describes the work performed to develop failure rate and cost-to-repair models such that reliable estimates of the failure rate and repair/replacement costs of fielded systems can be generated based on information available during Advanced Development or at the beginning of Full Scale Development. This capability will assist logistics personnel develop more accurate failure rate prediction and budget cost requirements for Repair Depot inservice equipments when actual failure rate data and cost are not available. In addition, information obtained by exercising these models can be fed back to the Project Office to support requirements trade-offs in the areas of reliability testability and functional partitioning.
