ADP Documentation and Specifications for Microcomputer Applications to the Military Construction Process (MICRO).

Abstract

This report documents the results of a prototype evaluation test (PET) of micro-computer applications in a Corps of Engineers construction field office and provides an economic analysis of the PET. The PET was conducted in FY82 at a Corps field office at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. It tested microcomputer applications to project management systems, data base management systems, word processing systems, and communications systems. Results of the PET showed that use of microcomputers is both successful and cost-effective. The system saves time, requires less manpower, is user-friendly, and significantly enhances office operations. An economic analysis of the PET showed that microcomputers are relatively inexpensive to use and provide significant tangible and intangible benefits.
