Economic Analysis Models for Evaluating Costs of a Life Cycle Cost Data Base.

Abstract

This study has developed economic models representing the various ways of providing designers with maintenance and repair information for evaluating alternative methods for providing data to support military construction design decisions. A plan for evaluating design costs, using these models, was also prepared. Criteria were developed for selecting modes of supplying the required information. Two models were selected using these criteria: a centralized database and ad hoc acquisition by the analyst-designer. A general economic model for data supply was developed for these two modes. The model was shown to be well-defined, and it was determined that the programmer-analyst could easily prepare programs to do the calculations if the required data is available.
